This week, our Reception class have been reading The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. The beloved classic storybook about a ravenous little caterpillar who eats everything in sight, grows and grows, and then transforms into a beautiful butterfly! The classic story teaches the life cycle of the butterfly, counting, healthy eating, the days of the week, and is also the perfect accompaniment to caterpillar-growing projects in the classroom.
We have had a plethora of fun learning activities based on our hungry caterpillar, which can be seen in the gallery below. These activities included:
Inside:
- We have been writing our names on caterpillars.
- We have been drawing our favourite foods and labelling them.
- We have been ordering the days of the week.
- We have been making bead caterpillars.
- We have been writing shopping lists for the Hungry Caterpillar.
