Equality of Opportunity – We are all different, and we like it that way!
At Nutfield Church Primary School, ensuring equality of opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers irrespective of race, religion, family structure, gender, disability, sexual orientation, age or socio-economic background is a key commitment. We aim to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which all those linked to the school feel proud of their identity and ability to participate fully in school life.
At Nutfield Church Primary School, we believe that diversity is a strength that should be respected and celebrated by all those who learn, teach and visit us. As part of “The Welcome Project”, which is the NCPS initiative for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, we wish to make anybody welcome to our school.
To achieve this, our equality objectives are:
- To actively promote cultural development and understanding through a rich range of experiences both in and beyond the school that enable pupils to appreciate their own culture and celebrate the diversity of other cultures.
- To tackle discrimination through the positive promotion of equality, by challenging bullying and stereotypes and by creating an environment which champions respect for all.
- To continually appraise how well the school evaluates equality of opportunities for all its pupils, staff, parents, carers and visitors, particularly in relation to the protected characteristics listed in the Equality Act.
