Pupil Parliament

At Nutfield Church Primary School we are passionate about pupil voice and recognise the importance of an effective Pupil Parliament which represents the views of all children and supports school improvement and development. They are involved in a variety of projects to improve learning, provision and wellbeing throughout school.

The Pupil Parliament comprises of a selection of children from Year 1 – Year 6 who are elected by their peers to represent the views of all pupils and to improve the school.

Leadership of the School Parliament is supported by:
Ms Boon, Interim Deputy Headteacher.

This year, the Pupil Parliament team are taking on the role of Eco Team as well.  They are taking on the responsibility of achieving the Green Flag Award as part of the Eco-Schools programme.

‘The Eco-Schools programme is designed to be pupil-led and promotes impactful environmental actions that have been completed by forward-thinking and innovative young people.’

This year the Pupil Parliament have decided on three main goals for the year:

  1. To continue to meet the criteria of the Eco Schools Green Flag award
  2. To promote good mental and physical wellbeing across the school community
  3. To ensure that outside play at break times is ‘safe and happy’

Throughout the year, there will be a range of activities taking place in order to meet these goals.  The team will be meeting monthly to discuss their progress. The minutes from these meetings will be shared with pupils, advertised on the Pupil Parliament board, and posted on the school website.
