Meet Our Farm Managers

Meet Rosaleen, Evie, Bessie, Ruby, Darcie, Eva, April, Grace, Darcie, Tilly, Rosaleigh, Tyler, Betsie, Amira, Louie, Zlata and Olivia who are our new Y6 Farm Managers for this year.

They are all very excited to be taking on the opportunity and responsibility of looking after our chickens, guinea pigs and rabbit. The responsibilities of the Farm Managers are to maintain all aspects of the farm on a daily basis.

This includes:

  • Cleaning the animal cages and providing them with all the necessary straw, hay, water, food, etc
  • Keeping the barns and cages clean and tidy
  • Maintaining the garden area
  • Caring for the wellbeing of the animals
  • Checking that the farm is safe

The Farm Managers Group

As the group is quite large this year, the Farm Managers are working in small groups throughout the week to carry out the daily duties.  They are flourishing in their new roles and are doing an excellent job so far. They are taking this leadership role very seriously.

Throughout the school week, classes do come and visit the farm.  This year, as part of our Outdoor Learning Curriculum, Reception have the responsibility of checking on Peter Rabbit, Year 1 and Year 5 partner together to check on the Chickens, Year 2 maintain Trinity Gardens and the rest of Year 6 check on the Guinea Pigs. We also have some parent volunteers who help out throughout the week working with small groups of children.

During the weekends and school holidays, based on a rota system, we are very lucky to have a wonderful group of volunteer families who come and check on the animals daily.  We are ever so grateful to them for giving up their spare time to come and care for the animals.

We are very lucky to have such a supportive school community who help us and believe in the positive benefits of having animals at school.
