Safeguarding Statement

We fully embrace the vision stated in the Church of England’s Vision for Education ‘Deeply Christian Serving the Common Good’ published in July 2016 of educating the whole person.

We incorporate this vision fully in all that we do. This is especially relevant when considering the safeguarding of our whole school community. We aim for our children and members of the wider school community to flourish in all they do and ‘live life in all its fullness’. (John 10:10) As such, we ensure that we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils and staff.

We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment, rooted in our Christian values, where all pupils are respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that pupils receive effective support, protection and justice. Child protection forms a significant part of the school’s safeguarding responsibilities.

Operation Encompass:

Nutfield Church Primary School is part of the Operation Encompass scheme which runs jointly between local schools, Surrey Police and Surrey County Council.

Operation Encompass has been designed to provide early reporting on any domestic incidents that occur outside of school and might have an impact on a child in school.

Operation Encompass will ensure that a member of the school staff, named a “Key Adult” or “Deputy Key Adult”, is informed the next morning that there has been a domestic incident or if a child has been reported as missing. Our Key Adult is Miss Imogen Woods, and our Deputy Key Adult is Mrs Anna Benjamin who are fully aware of the sensitive and confidential issues regarding such information.

Through sharing this information with the Key Adult or Deputy Key Adult we can ensure that the child is supported in the most appropriate way during the school day as part of our duty to provide the best support possible for our pupils.
