Year 4 Class Collective Worship
Year 4 recently led a Collective Worship that beautifully embodied our school vision inspired by John 10:10, “living life in all its fullness.” The event was a joyful occasion for the whole school community, and the pride on the faces of parents was clear to see.
The children showcased their learning with great passion and confidence. What stood out was how the Worship reflected the broad curriculum they are engaging with, demonstrating knowledge and skills spanning from gymnastics to science. This holistic approach to learning is at the heart of our ethos, ensuring pupils flourish across all areas. Mr Bowen’s creative teaching methods use a variety of engaging “hooks” to capture pupils’ interest and deepen their understanding. Highlights include melting different types of chocolate during science lessons, tasting Turkish delight in English, and immersive role play activities. These dynamic experiences were also witnessed by prospective parents during a school tour, who were delighted to see outdoor learning happening in real time. The Year 4 Collective Worship was truly fabulous, an inspiring celebration of learning, faith, and community that brought our vision to life in a meaningful and memorable way.
Year 5 Class Collective Worship
Thank you to all of those who were able to join us on Wednesday 21st January for the Year 5 Collective Worship, we hope you enjoyed seeing a snap shot into the learning journey the children have experienced so far. The class worked hard to produce a selection of pieces to showcase the work they have done in different subject across the curriculum. All of the children were really focussed during the preparation and rehearsal process to present their learning in an engaging way for the school, parents and carers to enjoy.
Year 5 visit to St Bede’s
On Tuesday 27th we took the class to St. Bede’s school to watch their dress rehearsal of their forthcoming production of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. The children enjoyed the experience of seeing what lay in store for them as they transition into secondary school in the not too distant future and how the Performing Arts are such a central component of secondary education.
EYFS and Year 5 Wonderdome
On Thursday Year R and Year 5 enjoyed a visit from the science project ‘Wonderdome’ where the children participated in a learning experience similar to a planetarium teaching them all about the galaxy and its plants. This has supported the learning the Year 5 children are currently doing in their Science lessons about ‘Earth and Space’ and for Reception, about space travel and astronauts. Thank you for all of your support in enabling trips out of school and visitors into school; such experiences allow education to ‘come to life’ for our children helping to foster a love of and engagement in learning.
KS2 SATs Meeting
If you have a child in Year 6, we warmly invite you to attend an important KS2 SATs meeting on Tuesday 24th February 2026 at 15:30. This meeting will provide key information about the assessments, how you can support your child, and what to expect during this crucial time. We look forward to welcoming you and working together to help your child succeed.
SENCO Update
We were delighted to welcome Barnardo’s to Nutfield Church C of E Primary School recently for a special visit that brought valuable support to both parents and staff.
As part of their visit, Barnardo’s hosted a warm and engaging parent coffee morning. This provided a wonderful opportunity for parents to come together, share experiences, and gain insights into supporting their children’s wellbeing and learning at home. It was encouraging to know that many parents took part in this supportive community event.
In addition, Barnardo’s ran two highly effective training sessions for our teaching team. The training was excellent and extremely relevant to the needs of our pupils, particularly those with ADHD. It reinforced much of what our staff already know while introducing key strategies to enhance our provision for all children. These strategies will help us better support pupils with ADHD and ensure every child can thrive in our inclusive learning environment. We are grateful to Barnardo’s for their expertise and commitment to helping us strengthen our school community. Their visit has equipped us with practical tools to continue improving the educational experience for every pupil at Nutfield Church C of E Primary School.
World Book Day
We are excited to invite all pupils to join in the fun of World Book Day on Thursday 5th March 2026. To celebrate the joy of reading, children are warmly encouraged to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. This is a wonderful opportunity for pupils to express their love of stories and share their favourite books with friends. While dressing up is not compulsory, we would love to see as many children as possible join in the celebration. The staff will also be getting into the spirit of the day by dressing as beloved book characters, making it a truly immersive and inspiring experience for everyone.
In addition, we invite pupils to bring in their favourite book from home to share with their classmates. This helps foster a love of reading by allowing children to connect emotionally with stories that matter to them, and also gives others a window into different worlds and perspectives.
Let’s make World Book Day 2026 a memorable occasion filled with imagination, excitement, and a shared passion for reading!
Twelve15 will be providing a special menu on Thursday 5th March to celebrate World Book Day. Please find attached the menu.

By informing you now, this will allow time to make alternative arrangements.
Governors Away Day
Last week, our Governors joined key members of the school staff for a productive and inspiring Governors Away Day. The day was dedicated to reflecting on how we can continue to move Nutfield Church C of E Primary School forward in line with our vision and values.
A major focus of the day was reviewing our key priorities and exploring how our school vision and values underpin every aspect of our work. This naturally led to a deep dive into our spirituality; how it is lived out and demonstrated throughout the school community. While spirituality is embedded in all that we do, we recognised that sometimes it can be challenging to clearly articulate what is our “normal practice.” The Away Day provided valuable time and space to unpack this and bring clarity to our shared understanding.
The discussions and reflections helped to unify governors and staff as one team, all committed to the common goal of improving outcomes for every child at Nutfield Church C of E Primary School. This shared sense of purpose strengthens our leadership and governance, ensuring that the school continues to flourish in both faith and learning. We are grateful for the dedication of our governors and staff in making this day so meaningful and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our school community.
Respecting our neighbours and pedestrians
We kindly ask all Parents and Carers that drive to school to drop off and pick up their children to drive carefully through the village and when passing the school. We also ask that you are mindful of other local residents and do not park over pavements and driveways. Please also note that parking is not permitted outside the village hall.
Smoking & Vaping
We kindly ask all parents and visitors to refrain from smoking or vaping close to the school grounds, especially in front of the school gate. While we do not have jurisdiction over public areas, we respectfully request your consideration for the health and comfort of all our pupils, families, and staff. Your cooperation helps us maintain a welcoming and safe environment for everyone, particularly our young children who are sensitive to smoke and vapour. Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our School a healthy place for all.
