Mark Chapter 12 verse 33

And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself.

Year 5 Trip to the Rose Theatre

Before half term, Year 5 visited the Rose Theatre to watch ‘The boy at the back of the class’. It was a brilliant trip and experience for the children. Please click here for two reviews from the children.

Year 6 Polka Theatre

On Wednesday 4th March, Year 6, accompanied by Miss Best, Miss Baber and Mrs Summers went to Wimbledon’s Polka Theatre to watch ‘Who Let the Gods Out?’ This is a dramatisation of the popular book by Maz Evans which the children are currently studying in their guided reading lessons in English.

Elliot needs to save the world – and save his mum. Enter some epic Greek Gods with a few tricks up their togas… Elliot Hooper’s life is highly suboptimal. His mum isn’t very well, his posh neighbour is trying to steal his home and he has ever so slightly unleashed an evil death daemon into the world… Luckily (according to her), the constellation Virgo has crash landed in his dungheap and with the help of a legendary family of ancient Greek Gods, Elliot is on a quest to save THE world. But can he save HIS world too…?

The children (and adults) thoroughly enjoyed the performance, full of comedy and music and expertly acted out by only 5 actors. This is one of many of the theatre performances that our pupils have attended this year.

Year 3 Collective Worship

We are incredibly proud of our Year 3 pupils for their tremendous effort in delivering an outstanding presentation that truly captivated their audience. Their work beautifully reflected Nutfield Church C of E Primary School’s ethos of inclusivity, showcasing how every child’s unique talent and voice are valued and celebrated.

A particular highlight was their creative demonstration of learning the eight times table, where they illustrated that learning can be both engaging and fun. It was inspiring to see our pupils confidently share their knowledge and enthusiasm, embodying the spirit of “living life in all its fullness” as inspired by our school vision from John 10:10.

Bravo, Year 3! Your hard work and vibrant presentation have set a wonderful example for us all.

Year 2 Chinese Day

We were absolutely blown away by the fantastic Chinese Day that Year 2 pupils enjoyed recently. As the pupils entered the school, it was impossible not to smile at the sight of them all looking wonderful in their vibrant Chinese outfits. This special day truly brought our school community together, and we know it couldn’t have happened without your incredible support, thank you to all the parents who helped your children prepare and engage so enthusiastically.

“It was heart-warming to see the parents who volunteered, actively participating and supporting the pupils, including a dad joining in the traditional dance, which added to the joy and spirit of the day. We hope you enjoyed being part of this celebration as much as we enjoyed having you with us.” The day was packed with a variety of engaging activities, from cooking authentic dishes to making beautiful lanterns. We are confident that the memories created will remain with the children for a long time, enriching their understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture. Thank you once again for your support in making this day so special!

World Book Day

Thank you to all the children (and parents) who contributed to a successful World Book Day this year by dressing up as their favourite book character. Across the school, classes logged on to the ‘The Great Big Footy & Booky Quiz 2026’, a fun and lively quiz organised by the National Literacy Trust. The children were thoroughly engaged in the selection of questions relating to children’s literature and football, so there was something for everyone! Well done to the four children: Ianto, Ivy-Rae, Francesca and Alex who won a book token for the ‘best dressed’ in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, chosen by our Year 6 librarians. In the afternoon, classes came together for a ‘World Book Day Buddy Reading Session’, mixing with other year groups to share stories and enjoy reading together. Finally, to round off the day, children watched a play of their choice from the National Theatre Collections on Drama Online, bringing stories to life through the magic of theatre, the chosen plays included ‘I Want My Hat Back’, ‘Peter Pan’ and ‘Treasure Island’. Please see a selection of pictures on our website.

School Uniform

Our vision inspired by John 10:10, to live life in all its fullness, guides everything we do. One key way we live this vision is by wearing the correct school uniform every day, showing pride in ourselves, our school, and our community.

Wearing the correct uniform fosters a strong sense of belonging and equality among all pupils. It eliminates distractions related to clothing and helps everyone focus on learning and personal growth. Uniform also reflects our school’s values of respect and responsibility, creating a positive and professional atmosphere. It’s important that all pupils wear the correct footwear, which should be smart, safe, and suitable for school activities. This helps maintain a consistent and tidy appearance and ensures pupils can participate comfortably and safely in all lessons and playtimes. Trainers are not permitted for every day. Additionally, the only significant amendment to our uniform policy is that smart watches are not permitted in school. This helps us avoid distractions and maintain focus during the school day.

Year 6: Role Models for the Whole School
Our Year 6 pupils play a vital role as leaders and role models for younger pupils. By consistently wearing the correct uniform and footwear, Year 6 set a powerful example that encourages all pupils to take pride in their appearance and uphold our school values.

Working Together
We greatly appreciate the support of parents and carers in ensuring pupils come to school every day in the correct uniform, including appropriate footwear, and without smart watches. Together, we can help our pupils develop pride, responsibility, and respect for our school community. Thank you for your continued partnership in making Nutfield Church C of E Primary School a place where every pupil can thrive

Easter Garden

We hope you are as excited as we are to launch our Easter Garden competition! This wonderful opportunity invites you to work alongside your child to creatively recreate the scene of Calvary and the empty tomb, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus.

As you embark on this project together, why not take the time to discuss the significance of Easter in the Christian calendar? It’s a meaningful way to deepen your child’s understanding of this special season and its message of hope and renewal.

Unlike previous years when the Easter Gardens were taken to the church, this year the children will be bringing their creations home, except for the top three winners, whose gardens will be displayed at the school. We look forward to seeing the beautiful and thoughtful Easter Gardens that you and your children create!

SENCO Update

On Friday 17 April we will be holding a parent coffee workshop from 1:45 – 15:15pm on ‘parents supporting their children’s wellbeing’. This will be hosted by Katherine Giles, our Mindworks School Based Needs Advisor and Gemma Gay from the YMCA Community Wellbeing Team. One of the topics will be ‘brain buddy’ strategies – an A-Z list of coping strategies for children. If you are interested in attending this session then please inform the office at info@nutfield.surrey.sch.uk.

Please also find attached a flyer from the YMCA who are offering parent support workshops for those whose children are transitioning from primary to secondary school.

At Nutfield Church Primary School, the children take part in daily mindfulness and regular movement breaks to enable all children to get the most from their learning. In addition, each class has a calm corner which is equipped with ear defenders and an array of fidget aides. These are available to all children should their teacher feel that they would benefit from using them in class. Can we please ask that you check with myself or the Class Teacher before sending these types of self-regulation items into school. Thank you.

Parent and Carer Evenings

Parent and Carer Evenings will take place on 16th, 17th and 18th March (3.30pm-6.00pm). Meetings will take place with your child’s class teacher and will be held in the school hall. Sessions will be available for booking via the Parent Portal on Arbor. The system will go live for bookings on Monday 9th March at 09.00am and will close at 12:00pm on Friday 13th March. If you wish to make any changes after this date or have any queries, please contact the school office. For the parents and carers of children currently on our Special Educational Needs register, there is an opportunity to have a 30-minute appointment with their child’s class teacher during the week commencing 23rd March 2026. Those parents and carers will shortly receive a letter inviting them to book a session via Arbor

Digital Technology

In today’s digital world, technology plays a big part in our pupils’ learning and everyday lives. We are committed to helping pupils use digital technology safely and responsibly.

Here are a few key points to keep in mind when supporting your child’s use of technology at home:

  • Set clear boundaries: Agree on appropriate screen time limits and encourage regular breaks to balance online and offline activities. Monitor content: Ensure the websites, apps, and games your child accesses are age-appropriate and safe.
  • Encourage respectful communication: Talk about the importance of kindness and respect when interacting online, just as in person. Protect personal information: Remind children not to share personal details such as their full name, address, or school online.
  • Keep devices in shared spaces: This helps you stay aware of what your child is doing and encourages open conversations about their online experiences. By working together, we can help our children enjoy the benefits of digital technology while staying safe and respectful users.

Ark

Unfortunately, Ark staff will not be able to accompany the children to the PTFA Easter Egg Hunt after school on Friday 27th March. If you would like your child to attend the Easter Hunt, please do collect your child after school at 3.15pm and let the school office know in advance.

If you have not done so already, please could you settle your Spring 2 invoice as soon as possible to enable us to migrate to the new booking platform.

Parking and our local community

We are proud to be part of a caring and supportive local community. To ensure the safety of our pupils and maintain positive relationships with our neighbours, we kindly ask all parents and carers to avoid parking on the yellow hazard markings in front of the school.

Parking on these markings not only poses a safety risk to our pupils but also inconveniences local residents who live near the school. By parking with due care and consideration, we can all contribute to a safer environment and foster goodwill within our community.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to living well together with our neighbours.

Supreme Sports

Supreme Sports continue to run an after-school football club on Thursdays from 3.15pm – 4.15pm and are keen to continue growing the number of children benefiting from these sessions. For more information or to book a free trial, please click here.

Headteacher’s Comment

As we continue to nurture not only the minds but also the hearts of our pupils, I am reminded of the beautiful words from Galatians 5:22-23:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” We celebrate these qualities as essential to our school community and the way we live out our vision of “living life in all its fullness.”

Each week in our Celebration Worship, pupils will be awarded certificates recognising their exceptional behaviour or work that exemplifies one of these Fruit of the Spirit. This is a wonderful way to honour the personal growth and positive contributions of our pupils.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us foster these values both in school and at home. .
