In our literacy lessons this week we have been reading the book ‘Mr Grumpy’s Motor Car’ by John Burningham.
In this story Mr Grumpy’s car gets stuck in the mud and he needs to be rescued. As a class we discussed some of the car journeys the children had been on. We talked about the length of the journey and how they passed the time in the car. In the story, a number of animals help Mr Grumpy get his car working again.
As a class, we used our phonological knowledge to write a list of all the animals who helped push Mr Grumpy’s car out of the mud. In our literacy focus group, we continued with the theme of lists and journeys as each child wrote a list of items that they would need to pack if they were going on holiday.
