This afternoon, Year 1 children were getting very artistic and creative as they learnt about the famous artist Piet Mondrian.
Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan, known after 1911 as Piet Mondrian, was a Dutch painter and art theoretician, who is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century.
Piet Mondrian is best known for pioneering geometric abstract art, specifically a style he called Neo-Plasticism and his involvement with the Dutch art movement De Stijl (“The Style”).
The children enjoyed the challenge and produced some lovely work. We took some pictures of their art, which can be seen in the gallery below. Please click on the thumbnails for a larger view.
