During Maths this week, the children were introduced to temperature, thermometers and the unit “degrees Celsius”, written °C, for the first time.

We discussed the language of temperature such as “hot”, “warm”, “cold” and so on. The children recognised that the temperature is higher when the weather is warmer. The children use their skills from previous learning read scales and to colour thermometers to represent temperatures, making links with number lines.
