In Year 3 English, the children have been reading a fantastic book entitled “Cloud Tea Monkeys” by Juan Wijngaard.
About “Cloud Tea Monkeys”:
Tashi’s mother is an impoverished tea-picker, and when she becomes ill, the little girl tries to continue her mother’s job. Ridiculed by the bad-tempered Overseer, Tashi seeks solace where the local monkeys regularly share her fruit, and her generosity is repaid as they pick the highest and best tea to fill her basket.
To become more familiar with the wonderful world of tea, the children took part in a blind tasting sampling a number of different teas ranging from English Breakfast and Earl Grey through to Green teas and fruit teas. The children thoroughly enjoyed this challenge and recognised a number of the very distinctive flavour profiles in these very different teas.
