A few weeks ago Y5 went to Mercers Lake as part of our wider PE and sports curriculum. The class did really well having the opportunity to try out a variety of water sports including; dinghy sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, raft building and windsurfing.
Mrs Benjamin said that she was really proud of them all. The weather wasn’t as glorious as it is now however, the class did really well in some interesting weather conditions. We think the PE curriculum offer of getting outside is really important helping the children build skills as they journey through the school. The swimming in Year 3 as well as the swimming at home has been a real help in this trip.
The visit to High Ashurst last year in Y4 also prepared them well. Many of them love being outside and were able to tackle their new experiences with confidence. The class all used the skills they have learnt not only in school but at home really well.
Well done Year 5, we are all proud of you. Next stop – High Ashurst!
