Next week we will begin teaching phonics using the Oxford Owl Essential Letters and Sounds programme. Please use the phoneme flashcards we sent home this week to support your child’s learning in school.

We have included a video (above) to help with the pronunciation of phonemes (sounds): Phonics: How to pronounce pure sounds | Oxford Owl. We We will continue to send home ‘wordless’ books next week. Please encourage your child to tell you the story using the pictures.

Ask your child to describe how each character is feeling and to predict what might happen next in the story. Next Friday we will also start using the Oxford Owl Essential Letters and sounds website to set an additional E-Book which compliments the phonic learning for that week.
