On Friday 11th March, Year 5 took part in the ‘Easter Project’ dance workshop led by the Springs Dance Company. During the daylong workshop children explored the final part of Holy Week: rolling away the stone, Mary weeping and the resurrection.
Through the course of the day, children learnt to create movements in response to each part of the story. Children were encouraged to use their imaginations and creativity which resulted in an empathetic and thoughtful re-telling of the story.
The workshop not only taught the children new dance skills but it also served to boost the children’s self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence. The workshops culminated in an informal performance of the Easter story to Year 6. It was a wonderful opportunity for spiritual development.
