This week we have been reading ‘The Night Pirates’ by Peter Harris and our classroom activities have been themed around pirates.
In our Literacy lessons the children have been labelling the different parts of a pirate ship and writing a description of a pirate using adjectives. The children were also encouraged to write a short message on a piece of paper to put into a plastic bottle and then cast out to the ‘sea’ we had created in our EYFS outdoor area.
In the Art room children have been able to practise their sewing skills by sewing two pieces of fish shaped felt together. We have also tried to draw pictures of our friends whilst wearing a blindfold. This was linked to our R.E. learning when we read the parable of the Blind Beggar.
In our Understand the World lesson, we learned about maps. We talked about what a map is, what it is used for and where we might have seen a map before. The children then created their own ‘treasure maps.’
