This week in Maths, we moved on from Algebra. Now the children are focusing on Area and perimeter.
The children began the week by recapping what area and perimeter are and how to calculate them when looking at regular and irregular rectilinear shapes. In the image you can see some examples of rectilinear shapes.
We then moved onto calculating the area of a triangle. To do this we needed to understand the formula needed to calculate this.
To calculate the area of a triangle you need to multiply the length if its base by the height of the triangle. Once you have done this you then divide your answer by two. This will then be the area for the triangle.
