This week in the EYFS classroom we are learning all about doctors, nurses, dentists and paramedics
In the classroom:
- In the Arts and Crafts room we have been learning all about X-rays and we made an x-ray of a hand using chalk, black card and cotton buds.
- Our independent writing task this week was to create and label a First Aid Kit.
- On our Tuff Tray, we have been exploring the work of dentists. The children got to examine their own teeth using mirrors, decided which foods were good for their teeth and which foods were bad. They also used tooth paste to clean the model teeth.
- The children enjoyed pretending to be doctors and patients in our doctor’s surgery.
- Our Maths task this week, challenged the children to build the longest bridge they could and find a way of measuring it. The children were also asked to investigate the strength of their bridge and think of ways they could make it even stronger.
Outdoor learning:
- The children were given life-sized paper cut outs of people and had to try and put the organs in the correct place on the body. They were then asked to label each organ.
- Unfortunately the classroom babies have had an accident and needed urgent attention. The children had been busy making plaster casts for their arms and legs using Modroc.
- In Maths, the children have been drawing cityscapes using chalk.
- In PSED we read ‘The Dot’ by Peter Reynolds. The children then spent time creating their own Dots in response to the text.
