Our topic this term in Reception is ‘Come Outside’. This topic is all about appreciating nature and largely focuses on animals and plants.
As an exciting hook to kick off our learning, the children took part in a hands on animal encounter session on Monday 1st March. During their visit the children were introduced to a hedgehog, snake, bearded dragon, chinchilla and skinny pig (a hairless guinea pig).
Each of the animals were with the handlers on blankets on the floor and the children were able to stroke and interact individually with them. The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit, they handled the animals with the great care and affection and had the opportunity to ask lots of interesting questions.
