Happy New Year to you all and a huge welcome back to school as we start a new term and a new year! The children have bounced straight back into their learning after the Christmas break with some fun activities. We took some pictures as they got stuck into each task, which can be seen in the galleries below. Please click on the thumbnails for a larger view.
Labelling a car:
We have been using our phonemes to label the different parts of a car.
Room on the Broom:
In Maths we have been reading the book ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson. In our enhanced provision, children spent time seeing how many characters from the story they could fit on their twig brooms.
Staircase building:
As part of our Maths learning this week, we have been using the unifix cubes to build a staircase. We have noticed that every time we build a new step the number of bricks increases by one.
Tracing numbers with cars:
We have been learning to form numbers 1 – 10 by tracing the numbers with toy cars.
Car Wash:
We have been practicing our fine motor skills by giving our dirty cars a wash using tooth brushes, sponges and soap.
Clothes peg Car:
Our topic this term is transport. As one of our STEM activities this week was to make a ‘clothes peg car.’ We made the car using a clothes peg, straws, buttons and pieces of wire.
