Our value for this half term is “Wisdom”. Year 3 children have been learning about the story of Joseph. Joseph, son of Jacob and Rachel was favoured by his father over his other siblings. This favouritism caused Joseph’s brothers to be jealous of him.
One day Joseph was sent out into the fields where his brothers were taking care of the flocks of sheep, to check on them. Joseph’s brothers saw him coming and they plotted to kill him. One of his brothers, Reuben told the other brothers not to kill Joseph but to throw him into an empty water hole and leave him there. Later on while Joseph was in the empty water hole a group of Ishmaelites came by and the brothers sold Joseph to them.
“And the patriarchs, becoming envious, sold Jose3ph into Egypt. But God was with him and delivered him out of his troubles, and gave him favour and wisdom in the presence of Pharaoh, King of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.”
Acts 7:9-10
