Empty Tin Cans Needed To Make Warm Candles for Ukraine
The mother and host family of one of our children in Year 4 are organising a collection of tin cans. These are being passed to a local wax manufacture, who is making ‘warm candles’ to send to people in Ukraine.
These are a type of candle that generate as much heat as light, so that they can be used for boiling water, heating food or to keep warm.
With daytime temperatures hovering around zero, even colder at night and a constant threat to energy supplies, these candles will be of invaluable use. Nutfield Church Primary School will be providing a collection point for tin cans on Tuesday 13th December. There will be collecting bins in the playground at school pick-up at 3.15pm. Any shape or size of tin can is welcome, including food cans, catering cans and pet food cans.
Please ensure they are washed and label free. Thank you for supporting this fantastic initiative.
