This week in the EYFS classroom we are celebrating ‘Book Week.’ We have been reading the book ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker.
In the classroom:
Paper Lanterns:
Our book this week is called ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker. In this book there are lots of paper lanterns hung up everywhere, so we decided to make our own and decorate the classroom with them.
Magic Carpet:
In the story, the little girl travels on a magic carpet, we made our own magic carpets by weaving paper strips across a template.
Book Reviews:
We thought about our favourite books, drew a picture and wrote a sentence about why we liked the book.
Book Marks:
As we are busy reading lots of books this week, we thought it was important to make book marks, so we knew where to continue reading from.
Tiger who came to Tea:
The Tiger who came to Tea is one of our favourite books. On the tuff tray we practised our fine motor skills by putting loose tea into small tea cups for the tiger to enjoy.
Book Shop:
Our class shop has become a book shop this week. We enjoyed working in the book shops and recommending books for others to buy!
Outdoor Learning:
The girl in our book ‘Journey’ used a red crayon to draw a door which took her to another world. We used red chalk to draw doors and used our imagination to take us to different places!
We made castles out of cardboard boxes as the girl in the book ‘Journey’ is taken to a magnificent castle.
We used the plastic guttering in the outside area to create canals and we sailed plastic boats on them, just as the girl in the book ‘Journey’ does.
Gallery:
We took some pictures of our amazing Reception class during their Monday learning time, which can be seen in the gallery below. Please click on the thumbnails below for a larger view.
