Once again children in Year 5 have created a stunning display of ‘handcrafted plastic’ poppies which are proudly adoring the front of Nutfield Church school to commemorate Armistice Day.
Children in Year 6 welcomed a speaker from Nutfield History Society, Bob Evans to learn about the sacrifices made by those in Nutfield village during the Great Wars. As a result of this talk, there is a display in the school foyer detailing those men from the village who gave their lives fighting for their country. The names of these men are also displayed on the wooden crosses in the front of the school in amongst the poppies made by the Year 5 children.
On Thursday 11th November at 11.0’clock, Nutfield Church Primary School joined with members of the British Legion to honour those who had died in both the Great Wars. After the 2 minutes silence members of the Year 6 Faith Team, Olle and Abi in Year 6 read ‘In Flanders Field’ and the school sung ‘This is a Day to Remember.’
